Corner Protectors & Edge Boards

Paper and plastic angles that take the impact at the corners, where damage almost always starts.

  • Protects the edges, where damage starts
  • Adds compression strength to a stacked load
  • Spreads strapping pressure so it does not cut in
  • Length, thickness and angle made to order
  • Wing width is specified against the carton, not guessed — too narrow and the strap still cuts the corner
  • Printed angles carry handling instructions where the cartons cannot

Questions about this product

Do they actually add strength?

Yes, measurably. Compression on a palletised load is carried by the corner posts, and an angle both spreads strapping pressure and adds vertical strength where the stack needs it.

Paper or plastic?

Paper is cheaper, recyclable and the usual choice for palletised cartons. Plastic is reusable and resists damp where a paper angle would soften.

L angle or U channel?

L angles sit on a vertical corner under strapping. U channels wrap an edge from both sides and suit furniture, glass and appliance panels.

What length should I order?

Usually the height of the palletised load, so the angle runs the full corner. Sending the pallet height and the carton dimensions is enough for us to specify it.

Product Description

Wholesale corner protectors — made to order: length, wing width, thickness and printing are all specified per run.

Damage almost always starts at a corner. It is where impact concentrates, where strapping cuts in, and where the compression strength of a stacked load is actually carried — the corner posts of a carton hold most of the weight, and once one buckles the rest follows. A corner protector is a small amount of material placed exactly where the failure begins.

L angles, U channels and what they add

Paper L angles are the common form: wound board, cut to length, placed on the vertical corners of a palletised load under the strapping. They spread strap pressure so it does not bite into cartons, and they add measurable compression strength to the stack — rated 4 of 5 here. U channels wrap an edge from both sides and suit furniture, glass and appliance panels. Plastic guards are reusable and resist damp where a paper angle would soften.

Ordering

Length, wing width, thickness and printing are made to order — printed angles carry handling instructions where the cartons cannot. Wing width should be specified against the carton, not guessed: too narrow and the strap still cuts the corner, too wide and the angle fouls the pallet. Typical uses are carton reinforcement, pallet packaging, furniture, appliances and glass. Pair with strapping and stretch film.

What moves the price

Length, wing width and thickness, all of which are material. Paper angles are cheap; plastic guards cost more and are reusable, which changes the arithmetic for a returnable system. Printing adds a plate and a per-unit increment and is worth it where the angle can carry handling instructions the carton cannot. Because they are bought by the thousand and used by the pallet, the specification matters more than the price per piece.

Where it goes wrong

A wing width guessed rather than measured against the carton, where too narrow lets the strap cut the corner anyway and too wide fouls the pallet. The second is length short of the load height, which leaves the top layer unprotected — the layer most likely to be hit. The third is omitting them entirely and then blaming the strapping.

Where wholesale corner protectors is used

On palletised cartons under strapping, and around furniture, appliances, glass and framed goods. They are the cheapest strength available on a pallet, because compression is carried at the corners and that is exactly where a strap bites. Used with strapping and stretch film; the rest of the transport range is in cartons and transport packaging.

What to send us for a quotation

A quotation for wholesale corner protectors is written against a specification, so the more of this you can send, the closer the first number is to the real one: which structure, or the shelf life and the product so we can choose one — Paper corner protectors, Plastic corner protectors and Edge boards are available here; the temperature the pack has to survive, from filling through to how the customer opens it (ambient for this product); the line it runs on — this one is specified for strapping and wrapping and Die cutting; which options you want fitted: paper, Plastic and L angle; the values for length, Wing width, Thickness and Printing.

Send the fill weight and the quantity with it. Where you already buy something similar, a sample is worth more than a description — we measure what is actually there rather than quoting against how it was once written down.

Food-contact and export requirements are set out in ISPM 15, the international standard for wood packaging crossing a border; the declarations for this structure are issued with the order.
