Strapping & Buckles

PP, PET and steel strapping with the buckles and seals to close it, for loads that must not shift.

  • High tensile strength that resists loosening
  • PET replaces steel on most loads at lower weight
  • Steel remains available for the heaviest
  • Width, thickness and core made to order
  • PET retains tension as a load settles, where steel goes slack
  • The seal or buckle has to match the strap, and a mismatch is where a strapped load fails

Questions about this product

PP, PET or steel?

PP for bundling and light pallets. PET for general freight — it carries comparable tension to steel at a fraction of the weight, does not rust, does not cut hands, and holds tension as the load settles. Steel for the heaviest and hottest loads.

Embossed or smooth?

Embossed grips better in a tensioner. Smooth runs faster through automatic machines. Which one depends on your equipment.

Do I need corner protectors?

Under strapping, almost always — otherwise the strap cuts into the cartons it is meant to protect, and the load loses compression strength at the corner where it needs it most.

What core size do you supply?

Whatever your tensioner takes. Send the machine, because a coil that does not fit is a stopped line rather than an inconvenience.

Product Description

Wholesale strapping and buckles — made to order: width, thickness, core size and colour are all specified per run.

Strapping holds a load rigid. Where stretch film contains a pallet, strapping compresses it — pulling cartons, timber or bundled goods tightly onto each other and onto the pallet so nothing shifts under braking, listing or a forklift. For export and for anything heavy it is not an alternative to wrapping; it is the layer underneath it.

PP, PET and steel

PP strapping is light, cheap and right for bundling and light palletised loads. PET strapping is the one most operations should be looking at: it has largely replaced steel on general freight because it carries comparable tension at a fraction of the weight, does not rust, does not cut hands, and — importantly — it retains tension as a load settles, where steel goes slack. Steel remains available for the heaviest and hottest loads. Embossed strap grips better in a tensioner; smooth runs faster.

Buckles, seals and ordering

Strapping is only as good as its closure — buckles and seals are supplied to match the strap, and a mismatched seal is where a strapped load fails. Width, thickness, core size and colour are made to order; core size has to match your tensioner. Use corner protectors under the strap, or it will cut into the cartons it is meant to protect.

What moves the price

Material and dimensions. PP is cheapest and suits bundling; PET costs more and has largely replaced steel on general freight because it holds tension as a load settles, does not rust and does not cut hands; steel remains dearest and is reserved for the heaviest. Width, thickness and core size follow the tensioner. Seals and buckles are a separate line and a small one, and the wrong seal is where a correctly specified strap fails.

Where it goes wrong

Steel where PET would serve, which pays more for a strap that goes slack as the load settles. The second is a seal or buckle that does not match the strap, which is the commonest cause of a strapped load failing. The third is strapping without corner protectors, where the band cuts into the cartons it was meant to hold together.

Where wholesale strapping and buckles is used

Export pallets, bundled goods, timber, machinery and anything that must not shift under braking or listing. It is the layer beneath the wrap rather than an alternative to it — stretch film keeps dust and damp off, strapping holds the load rigid. Always with corner protectors, or the strap cuts into the cartons it is meant to protect.

What to send us for a quotation

A quotation for wholesale strapping and buckles is written against a specification, so the more of this you can send, the closer the first number is to the real one: which structure, or the shelf life and the product so we can choose one — PP strapping, PET strapping and Steel strapping are available here; the temperature the pack has to survive, from filling through to how the customer opens it (ambient for this product); the line it runs on — this one is specified for strapping and wrapping; which options you want fitted: pP, PET and Steel; the values for width, Thickness, Core size and Colour.

Send the fill weight and the quantity with it. Where you already buy something similar, a sample is worth more than a description — we measure what is actually there rather than quoting against how it was once written down.

Food-contact and export requirements are set out in ISPM 15, the international standard for wood packaging crossing a border; the declarations for this structure are issued with the order.
