Paper Pallet & Slip Sheet

Board pallets and slip sheets that need no fumigation certificate, so export shipments clear customs without treatment.

  • No fumigation required, so export is simpler
  • Carries substantial weight for its own
  • Recyclable, unlike treated timber
  • Size and load rating made to order
  • No ISPM 15 treatment or certificate, because there is nothing in paper for a pest to live in
  • A slip sheet takes almost no height, which gets more cartons into a container

Questions about this product

Pallet or slip sheet?

A paper pallet replaces the timber one and takes a forklift. A slip sheet is a board sheet the load sits on, moved by a push-pull attachment — lighter, cheaper and better for container fill, but it needs the attachment.

How much weight will it carry?

It depends on the construction and it is specified rather than assumed. Send the actual gross weight, not the carton count, because that is the number the rating has to cover.

Will it survive damp?

Board is board. For humid routes or refrigerated containers, say so and the construction changes; for very wet conditions timber or plastic is the honest answer.

Is it really accepted at customs?

Paper is outside ISPM 15 entirely, so there is nothing to inspect or certify. That is the main reason air freight and export shipments use it.

Product Description

Custom paper pallet and slip sheet — made to order: size, load rating and entry type are all specified per run.

Timber pallets crossing a border need heat treatment or fumigation under ISPM 15, a stamp to prove it, and sometimes an inspection that holds the container. Board pallets need none of it, because there is nothing in paper for a pest to live in. For export and especially for air freight, that removes a whole category of delay and cost from the shipment.

Pallets and slip sheets are different answers

A paper pallet replaces the timber one and takes a forklift, in two-way or four-way entry, nestable for the empty return. A slip sheet is a sheet of board the load sits on instead of a pallet, moved by a push-pull attachment — it weighs almost nothing, takes up almost no height, and gets more cartons into a container. Compression strength rates 3 of 5, which covers most palletised goods but not machinery.

Ordering

Size, load rating and entry type are made to order, and the load rating is the number to get right — it has to be the actual gross weight, not the carton count. Typical uses are export shipments, air freight and warehouse handling. For heavy loads that still need timber, see wooden case and pallet. The paperwork a shipment travels with is covered in export packaging compliance.

What moves the price

Construction and load rating. A two-way entry pallet is cheaper than four-way; nestable designs cost more to tool and save on return freight. Slip sheets are much cheaper than pallets and need a push-pull attachment, which is the capital side of that decision. Board grade follows the rating. The saving that usually justifies the format is not the pallet price at all — it is the fumigation certificate not needed and the air freight weight not paid.

Where it goes wrong

A load rating taken from the carton count rather than the actual gross weight, which is how a pallet fails in a warehouse rather than in transit. The second is specifying paper for a humid route or a refrigerated container without saying so, where the construction has to change. The third is buying slip sheets without confirming the receiving warehouse can handle them — they save real money and only if both ends have the attachment.

Where custom paper pallet and slip sheet is used

Air freight and export shipments where an ISPM 15 certificate would otherwise be needed, and warehouse operations where weight and return logistics matter. The export packaging compliance guide covers the fumigation requirement it avoids, and packaging lead times from China where a customs hold sits in a real timeline. For loads that genuinely need timber, see wooden case and pallet.

What to send us for a quotation

A quotation for custom paper pallet and slip sheet is written against a specification, so the more of this you can send, the closer the first number is to the real one: which structure, or the shelf life and the product so we can choose one — Corrugated board and Honeycomb board are available here; the temperature the pack has to survive, from filling through to how the customer opens it (ambient for this product); the line it runs on — this one is specified for die cutting and Strapping and wrapping; which options you want fitted: two way entry, Four way entry and Slip sheet; the values for size, Load rating and Entry type.

Send the fill weight and the quantity with it. Where you already buy something similar, a sample is worth more than a description — we measure what is actually there rather than quoting against how it was once written down.

Food-contact and export requirements are set out in ISPM 15, the international standard for wood packaging crossing a border; the declarations for this structure are issued with the order.
